What is a Talent?

Talent Management is a relatively new topic in Human Resources and there are great discrepancies and variations on how to define "talent".

Basically, a "talent" is someone who can make a difference to organisational performance which differentiates the "talent" himself/herself from other ordinary staff members. A "talent" make a difference by immediate value-added contributions and/or, in the longer-term, by sustainable good work and continuous improvement.

A "talent" is always raising the bar and able to lead the organisation to think outside the box. A "talent" would not be satisfied with the status quo. A "talent" always stretches to reach new limits thus talents can grow with or even grow an organisation to unlock potentials in the future.
