A Day In The Life Of A Recruiter - 2/2

09:00
Check in the dashboard of JobsDataBase, our in-house enterprise solution for publishing job advertisements and getting incoming job applications. Response is good so far for there are over 89 applicants have sent in their CVs.

10:30
Number of incoming CVs hits 100. I put aside other tasks and start screening the CVs. CVs which show a mismatch on hygiene factors (e.g. minimum years of relevant experience, salary exception) will be screened out. Finally there are 13 applicants being relevant and suitable. I put down my remarks on the shortlisted CVs and contact the hiring manager for a time to walk through the shortlisted candidates with him.

12:00
Lunch          J(' o ')J " Enjoy a simple lunch at the sushi bar! The tofu is so soft and yummy "

14:00
Meet with the hiring manager and discuss the shortlisted candidates. He picks his 5 most favorite CVs. In additional to the 5, I suggest to include one more candidate who did not graduated overseas as required but he does process relevant experience. Hiring manager agree with me hence 6 candidates are shortlisted for the position.

15:00
Phone call the 6 candidates one by one. Open the dialogue in English giving candidates an introduction of our company and who I am. Give them 15 minutes to talk about their career exposure in the past and their career aspirations for the future. Close the dialogue by giving a Q & A session. Mark and rank candidates in terms of their skills on language, organisation, presentation, and their characters.

17:30
Line up interviews with candidates and hiring managers. Reserve meeting rooms for interviews.

18:00
Leave the office

Sonia's remarks: A testimonial from the aspect of an HR Manager on interviewing candidates will be shared with you on this blog as a continuity of "A Day In The Life Of A Recruiter". Stay turned.
