Six Major Domains in HR Which You Must Know

Human Resources is an important department to any organisation. Depending on the size and business nature of the organisations, Human Resources may refer to an one-man-band HR Officer or a team of three to four staff members including with a HR Manager, an Assistant HR Manager, and two HR Officers. 

In big organisations like Multinational Corporations or local business conglomerates, Human Resources Department will be divided into specialized teams to achieve an improved operational effectiveness.

There are six major domains in HR, which are commonly found in the Multinational Corporations or conglomerates. They are:

  1. Recruitment or Talents Acquisition;
  2. Compensation and Benefits (including the Payroll team);
  3. People data management and maintenance. Sometimes it is called the "Middle Office";
  4. Human Resources Information Systems
  5. HR Generalists and Staff Relation
  6. Staff Mobility or Global Mobility team
Certainly further to the list above, there could be more HR domains and tasks are more specialized in some sophisticated organisations. We will talk about this in another article.
