Online websites like Taleo and LinkedIn offer spaces for you to post your resume for proactive job hunting. Bear in mind of the following tips when you are doing so to ensure that you will get the most out of it.


Do's

  • Do keep your resume current and free of errors including spelling;
  • Do maintain a detailed profile of you on your LinkedIn personal page and treat it as your personal career website;
  • Do refresh and add new connections from time to time. Nowadays there are more and more recruitment agencies or even employers do their sourcing on LinkedIn directly.

Don'ts
  • Don't put your ID number, your home address, phone number...etc., out there on a resources that is available to the public;
  • Don't use cute or risque names for your email identity. Remember that your email address is also a calling card so please put your first name, last initial or vice-versa @ gmail. This will work just fine;
  • Don't put references on the public resume. Don't put your referees' contact information, either.
